Calgary UX

Habanero recently redesigned their own website using responsive techniques and experimented with a number of approaches such as content-first design, retina/high-DPI support, etc. Some things worked well and some didn’t, which the team will share.

Date: Wednesday, July 24th

Time: 10am (MDT)

The session will be led by Pablo Romero, a customer and employee portals consultant with over ten years of experience in marketing, customer care, and business strategy, and Jas Shukla, a senior consultant who teaches our User Experience Done Right! course across Canada. Jas was also an integral part of the designing and planning process behind Habanero’s own responsive website redesign.

Jas and Pablo will share best practices, ways to increase customer engagement, and explain the benefits of using responsive design techniques. By using Habanero’s own website responsive redesign as background, we’ll delve into why this design philosophy can increase the quality of customer experiences across different devices, especially important given today’s high-DPI screens.

CalgaryUX is joining up with Pixels and Pints for their next get-together on Tuesday, April 9.

Some CalgaryUX folks are already regulars at Pixel and Pints but if you haven’t been to one before, Pixels is a monthly intermingling of Calgary’s designers, writers, analysts, and developers… and everything in-between.

It’s a pretty casual group: just grab a drink, have a chat, listen to some announcements, and make some new connections!

You can arrive any time during the evening, but things get started at 5:30pm at the Rose and Crown Pub in Beltline (1503 4 St. SW). We’ll have a reserved section at the back.

RSVP for the “UX + Pixels + Pints = Awesome” event through Meetup

Brian Traynor from Mount Royal University’s Information Design program has invited Calgary UX group members to presentation at the school on Wednesday, March 20.

A representative from Noldus will be demonstrating their Observer XT software, an event-logging tool focused on the “collection, analysis, and presentation of observational data” – something that might come in handy when conducting user research and usability studies.

More information on Observer XT can be found on Noldus’ website at

The presentation will be held at 3:30pm in the afternoon in room T295.

To help find your way around campus, please refer to the MRU visitor parking map and the level 2 campus map. (The easiest entrance to find the room from is the West Gate. If you are driving, you can park in Lot 2.)
